At Studley High School, we believe in nurturing a spirit of compassion and service in our students. Today, we are delighted to share the inspiring story of Ryley and Austin Jackson, two exceptional young individuals from Year 8 and 9, who recently dedicated their entire weekend to supporting a charitable cause. Their selflessness and unwavering commitment deserve recognition and serve as a shining example for all of us.
On Saturday, May 20th, nearly 30 staff members embarked on an incredible journey from the Travis Perkins head office in Northampton to Leicester Royal Infirmary. The purpose of this challenging expedition was to raise funds for the Leicester Hospital children’s Cancer ward. The event held a special significance for one of their colleagues, whose two-year-old son is currently undergoing treatment for leukaemia at the hospital.
Ryley and Austin’s father played a pivotal role in organizing this charity event. In a heart-warming gesture, the two young brothers willingly sacrificed their weekend to help in the support van, ensuring the smooth progression of the walk. The support van acted as a beacon of assistance, providing refreshment breaks and carrying essential supplies and equipment along the arduous 36-mile route.
Despite the early start at 4 a.m. and not returning to the hotel until 8 p.m., Ryley and Austin showed remarkable perseverance and dedication throughout the day. Their responsibilities ranged from checking off walkers, coordinating with group members, to fetching and carrying food, drinks, and bags. Their tireless efforts made a significant difference in keeping the participants motivated and well-supported.
The commitment and passion demonstrated by all participants, including Ryley and Austin, have yielded tremendous results. At the time of writing this article, the event has raised a staggering £12,500, which will undoubtedly make a positive impact on the lives of children battling cancer at the Leicester Hospital. The funds will contribute towards improving the facilities, providing vital treatments, and offering much-needed support to the young patients and their families.
