Shine at Studley High School promotes academic curiosity and intellectual excellence through the promotion of higher order thinking skills and student-led learning. Shine promotes a love of learning amongst pupils and develops enquiring minds where there are no limits to their potential.
The SHINE Programme is Studley High School’s strategy to support More Able pupils so that they enjoy, thrive and aspire. It includes:
- Classroom activities designed by teachers to ensure More Able pupils are pushed. This includes a range of retrieval tasks, use of questioning and assessment feedback;
- Differentiated homework activities that ensure your child completes tasks that are appropriate;
- After-school workshops designed to extend their learning beyond the classroom;
- Enrichment opportunities that explore our cultural and historical heritage.
- Access to an independent learning portal
Pupils are identified on entry to the school (those achieving within the top 5-10% of the cohort and any identified as a ‘high achiever’). These pupils are recognised on seating plans so that teaching staff can explore ways to push them further and to help us identify where further, more individual support, may be needed. However, SHINE is used to stretch and inspire all students, regardless of ability.
