Mr M Rushton has a BA (Hons) in English and Related Literature from the University of York, where he also completed his PGCE in English and Drama.  Prior to moving to Studley High School in 2016, he taught for eight years in two other schools and gained experience as both a Lead Teacher and Second in Department.  Having been Curriculum Area Leader for English for 4 years, he was promoted to the role of Assistant Headteacher in October 2020.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Strategic lead of quality of education- curriculum design.
  • Strategic lead on timetable development and the options process (Arbor).
  • Strategic and operational overview of whole school data, reporting, assessment, parents' evenings and target setting (Arbor).
  • Student data tracking system across all subjects and year groups.
  • Organisation and lead for Level 2 qualifications.
  • Oversight of Disadvantaged students and LAC
