On Tuesday 20th June, our Choir had the incredible opportunity to showcase their talent at a prestigious concert held in conjunction with Choirs Connected at The Palace Theatre in Redditch. It was an event filled with music, excitement, and a sellout audience eagerly waiting to be entertained.

The students arrived at the theatre in the afternoon, ready to immerse themselves in rehearsals and sound checks. The atmosphere was electric as they prepared to deliver an unforgettable performance. After a brief break, they returned in the evening, all set to captivate the audience with their melodious voices.

The concert revolved around the theme of ‘All About the Eighties’, taking everyone on a nostalgic journey through the iconic music of that era. The Choir’s setlist commenced with an energetic rendition of Queen’s ‘Crazy Little Thing Called Love’, which featured the impressive talents of Fred B, a Year 7 student, on guitar and vocals. Fred’s solo performance set the stage on fire and instantly got everyone grooving to the beat.

Following the electrifying opener, Georgia M, a Year 10 student, took the spotlight for a soulful performance of ‘Purple Rain’. Her captivating voice mesmerized the audience, leaving them in awe of her incredible talent. The set concluded with a lively rendition of Dolly Parton’s ‘9 to 5’, complete with energetic stage movements that added an extra layer of excitement to the performance.

The concert also showcased the winner of this year’s SHS’s Musician of the Year, Taylor. She took the stage with confidence and grace, delivering a stunning rendition of Whitney Houston’s ‘The Greatest Love of All’. Taylor’s powerful voice resonated through the theatre, leaving the audience spellbound.

As the concert reached its crescendo, all the performers came together on stage to deliver a grand finale. The crowd enthusiastically joined in as the collective voices echoed through the auditorium, performing the timeless hit ‘Never Gonna Give You Up’.

We would like to extend our heartfelt congratulations to all the performers for their outstanding contributions to the concert. Their talent, hard work, and dedication shone through every note, making the evening an unforgettable experience for all. A special thanks also goes to Mrs. Brannelly for her tireless efforts in rehearsing the choir to such a high standard for this remarkable performance.

The Studley High School Choir has once again proved its prowess on the grand stage, leaving a lasting impression on everyone present. We are immensely proud of our talented students and look forward to their future musical endeavors.
