All Studley pupils participating on the Prince William Award, welcomed a visit from Julie from the NightStop in Redditch last week.
NightStop provides emergency overnight accommodation for young homeless people who are facing a night on the streets or sleeping in an unsafe place.
Communities and charities run Nightstops in more than 30 locations around the UK, led and supported by the Nightstop team at Depaul UK.
Nightstop believe that no young person should sleep rough or have to spend the night in an unsafe place. Nightstop is a unique project which relies on community hosting to provide a safe, welcoming place for young people in crisis. Volunteer hosts, who are ordinary members of the community, open their homes to young people aged from 16 to 25 years, offering:
- A private spare room
- A hot meal
- A shower
- Laundry facilities
- A listening ear
Pupils collected donations from Tesco of 12 duvet sets and toiletries including soap, toothpaste, toothbrushes, razors, deodorant, antiperspirant and long-life food. These donations will help in the daily running and to set up new housing for young people in need.
Pupils then attended a graduation presentation where they presented their work this year , talked about what they had achieved and challenges they had overcome. The ceremony closed with certificates for the pupils and presentation of a plaque for school.
