We recently took a group of enthusiastic Year 10 students to Worcester University to gain a valuable glimpse into university life and the exciting possibilities that lie ahead.

The day began with a warm welcome from the university’s outreach team, who introduced students to the wide range of courses and opportunities available. From the outset, the atmosphere was engaging and inspiring.

Students took part in a variety of activities throughout the day, including a campus tour, a budgeting workshop, and an enterprise challenge. The budgeting session encouraged students to think practically about managing finances as a university student, helping them visualise what day-to-day life might look like.

One of the highlights of the visit was the chance to speak with current university students. These conversations gave our Year 10s a real insight into the student experience, from academic life to social opportunities and personal growth.

The day concluded with an exciting enterprise activity where students worked in teams to design their own app. They had to consider the app’s purpose, target audience, and unique features before presenting their ideas to the group. From walking guides and fishing apps to creative hairstyling tools, the range of ideas was impressive. The activity was a fantastic opportunity for students to develop their teamwork, creativity, and presentation skills.

This visit to Worcester University helped our students see what’s possible and encouraged them to start thinking about their future pathways. It was a truly inspiring day that left many students feeling motivated and excited about the opportunities that higher education can offer.
