Just before half term, our Year 7s created a stunning array of active volcanoes as part of a Science competition and as part of a homework task.
Our first set of images show the volcanoes in their ‘pre-erupted’ state, as displayed in school reception (close to the fire extinguishers of course!). What a beautiful collection.
The majority of working examples used one of two methods: Cola and Mentos or vinegar and bicarbonate. Methods of ‘eruption’ included a full working water feature using a pond pump and a blow up exploding balloon.
Our second set of images show the pupils ‘igniting’ their volcanoes with Mr Willett, Mrs Harris and Ms Haines. There were many winners, in a range of categories, chosen by the pupil leadership team.
