Year 10 pupil, Ben Tidmarsh was recently featured on the ‘Fisheries’ website after an amazing catch recently.

Keen fishing fan, Ben, proved that age is no barrier to catching a huge barbel (carp-like freshwater fish) at the River Avon.

Fisheries site reports:

Ben landed a 12lb specimen during an action packed day session with his uncle on the opening day of the 2018 season at Warwickshire’s Anchor Meadow fishery. Fishing three pegs down from the weir he bagged up on barbel and chub for a session most anglers would envy. His haul marked a return to the River Avon hotspot where he bagged up two years ago and first caught the barbel bug.

Ben has been fishing since he was little (mainly in ponds) but 3 years ago he tried river fishing and caught his first Barbel! On the river he catches Barbel and Chub.

Ben is progressing so well that he is regularly catching more fish that the expert fishermen on the river!

Congratulations Ben! That’s an incredible catch!
