Year 9 Students Take on Duke of Edinburgh Practice Walk
On Saturday, 8th March, 46 enthusiastic Year 9 students embarked on their practice walk for the Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Award. Setting off from Studley High School, they navigated a scenic route through Studley, Spernall, Coughton, and Sambourne, putting their map-reading and compass skills to the test.
The weather was on their side, with bright skies and sunshine creating perfect conditions for the trek. Throughout the journey, students took turns leading their groups, gaining confidence in navigation while working together to overcome challenges along the way. They fully embraced the outdoor experience—appreciating the countryside views, collecting sticks, and even taking a fun roll down a hill!
This training walk was a key step in preparing for their official expedition, helping students build resilience, teamwork, and problem-solving skills. Their determination and enthusiasm were evident throughout the day, and they should be incredibly proud of their efforts.
A huge well done to all involved—we look forward to seeing them take on the next stage of their DofE journey!
