Studley High School Pupils Look to the Future on Careers Focus Day

Pupils from Years 7 to 10 stepped away from their usual timetables to take part in a dedicated Careers Focus Day, designed to inspire and prepare them for their future career paths. The day covered a variety of important topics, including teamwork, financial awareness, and personal reputation, helping pupils build essential life skills.

Year 7 pupils welcomed representatives from the University of Worcester, who led an engaging session on finances and budgeting. Alongside this, they took part in classroom activities and a team-building session aimed at developing their collaboration and problem-solving skills.

Year 8 had the opportunity to hear from two major employers—HSBC and Taylor Wimpey. These sessions provided valuable insights into the financial sector and the construction industry, broadening pupils’ understanding of different career opportunities.

Year 9 focused on apprenticeships and future planning. They attended an informative talk about apprenticeship opportunities, spent time researching their future options using the Unifrog platform, and took part in classroom sessions that helped them plan key aspects of their futures.

Year 10 pupils had an insightful experience with three finance industry professionals who covered essential topics such as understanding payslips, planning for future finances, and making sensible money decisions. In addition, they took part in classroom-based sessions to further explore financial literacy and career planning.

A highlight of the day for Years 9 and 10 was the careers fayre, where they had the chance to meet a variety of local education and workplace providers. This gave them an excellent opportunity to ask questions, explore different career pathways, and gain a deeper understanding of the world of work.

The day was a fantastic opportunity for all pupils to reflect on their futures and gain valuable knowledge from industry experts. Studley High School is committed to providing students with the guidance and skills they need to make informed decisions about their careers, and this event was a key part of that mission.
