Our Christmas concerts are always eagerly anticipated and this year even more so after not being able to run rehearsals, clubs or any events for so long. All 200 tickets sold out in record time within just a few days! However, given our concerns around the new Omicron variant, we felt turning our concert into a virtual event was the correct response. Step up Mr Doyle, our new Art and Photography teacher, with his especially-purchased video and sound equipment to capture our students in action.120 students from across Years 7 to 11 came together last Thursday, 9th December to perform in our Choir, Orchestra, Ukulele Club and Rock School, not to mention soloists, Year 10 and 11 Performing Arts classes, four different drama groups and the cast from our upcoming production of Little Shop of Horrors. The stage was decorated, each performance had a small live audience to add to the occasion and Mrs Roberts was on hand with her photography skills to capture all the important moments.
Although a little different than we’d planned, the concert recording was a wonderful way to finish the term and showcase the hard work of our students who all stepped up to perform so brilliantly.
I’d like to say a huge well done and thank you to everybody who took part as well as all those who helped out behind the scenes.
