This week we had the pleasure of hosting David Allden, a Space Advocate from the National Space Academy. Mr. Allden conducted engaging workshops with our 9/Sc1 and 9/Sc2 classes, aiming to inspire our students to consider taking triple science at GCSE and explore the exciting careers available in Space and Engineering.
Each workshop spanned two hours and featured a mix of theory and practical tasks. Students delved into the challenges astronauts face when venturing into space, gaining valuable insights into the complexities of space exploration. Additionally, they got hands-on experience by creating and launching their own rockets. Using calculations, students determined the height their rockets reached—although some rockets ended up landing on the Sports Hall roof!
We believe the highest rocket reached an impressive altitude of over 100 meters!
This event was an incredible opportunity for our students to see the practical applications of their studies and spark their interest in pursuing careers in science and engineering. We’re grateful to Mr. Allden and the National Space Academy for their time and dedication to inspiring the next generation of scientists and engineers.
Stay tuned for more exciting events at Studley High School!
