It’s not only our students who have busy lives outside of school, but also our staff.
Our Graduate Support Assistant, Miss Boyle, who specialises in Drama & Performing Arts is a Choreographer for a Youth Musical Theatre society, in her spare time.
She has worked with Lollipop Youth Theatre, based in Worcester, for over a year now and this is her third show with the company. She has choreographed ‘Oliver’, a concert based on ‘The Greatest Showman’ called ‘This is me’ and now ‘Wizard of Oz’.
Lollipop’s students range from ages 5-16 currently, so it can be a challenge to choreograph, Miss Boyle tell us.
I have to find a balance between being able to create dances that the little ones can do but also ensure the older ones don’t get bored, whilst still looking good on stage and fit the song! Wizard of Oz has been a real challenge for me because due to licensing, we also have to fit in the Jive, Charleston, Jazz and other styles of dance.
The Wizard of Oz is on at The Norbury Theatre, Droitwich. Thursday 25th July to Saturday 27th July 2019
