Students Explore Sustainable Seafood Through Fish Heroes Programme
Year 8 and Year 9 students recently took part in the Fish Heroes programme, gaining a hands‑on introduction to sustainable seafood. The school received a delivery of rope‑grown mussels, allowing students to learn about their nutritional value — including high protein, essential nutrients and low environmental impact — while also developing practical kitchen skills.
Students prepared, cooked and tasted an Asian‑style mussels recipe, with many trying mussels for the first time and embracing the challenge enthusiastically.
The event was a great success, broadening students’ understanding of food, flavour and sustainable eating. Studley High School is proud to have taken part in the Fish Heroes programme and looks forward to similar opportunities in the future.
