Inspired by the book ‘1984’ by George Orwell, Y8 English pupils created and filled a time capsule and buried it on school grounds, whilst considering visions of the future and the reactions of those who might find it 40 years from now.
On-site reporter, Tom Gould, wrote this piece at the event:
“Who would have thought that digging a hole would be so tough?
We have just finished studying ‘1984’ by George Orwell, which was a prediction of the future. This book was the inspiration for us all.
Miss Higgs and Mrs Campbell encouraged us to bury a capsule and think about what the contents could mean to those who uncovered it.”
