Year 7 Enjoy a Taste of Ukrainian Cuisine
Year 7 students recently enjoyed a wonderful opportunity to explore traditional Ukrainian cuisine during their Food lessons. Mrs Kirk prepared a delicious borscht — a vibrant, hearty beetroot soup — while students tried their hand at making syrynky (cottage cheese pancakes) and deruny (potato rosti), learning new techniques along the way.
Both students and staff were able to taste the dishes, gaining not only new culinary skills but also a meaningful cultural experience that offered a deeper insight into Ukrainian food traditions. The session was thoroughly enjoyed by everyone involved.
This cultural cooking experience broadened students’ horizons — and filled a few hungry tummies too!
