Exciting History Workshop Brings Medicine Through the Ages to Life!

Our Y10 and Y11 students had a fantastic opportunity to step back in time as we welcomed Zeitgeist Education for a hands-on history workshop on Medicine in England 1250-Present, based on the Edexcel GCSE History course. This engaging session brought the past to life in a way that no textbook could!

From the medieval period to modern medicine, students explored how medical knowledge, treatments, and beliefs evolved over the centuries. The workshop was packed with interactive activities, including viewing real leeches to understand medieval treatments, and dressing the part in historical costumes to experience the roles of doctors, monks, plague physicians, and surgeons from different time periods.

Each era came alive through demonstrations and discussions. Students examined medieval superstitions and herbal remedies, Renaissance breakthroughs inspired by figures like Vesalius and Harvey, the impact of industrial advancements in medicine, and how modern innovations have revolutionized healthcare today.

This immersive experience not only deepened their understanding of medical history but also made learning fun and memorable. A huge thank you to Zeitgeist Education for inspiring our students and bringing history to life in such an exciting way!
